Reconstructive Surgery- The Various Types of Nose Jobs
When it comes to nose reconstructive surgery, there are several options available. Many people think that if you want to get a new nose, there is only one available procedure. But there are a number of different procedures that people can choose from.
- Nasal Reconstruction is being done when the nose of the patient has went through injury or has been altered as a result of trauma, malignancy, previous surgery or any other problems which are related to infections or scarring. Commonly, this procedure is being done after the external skin tumors are removed. These include melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma or some internal tumors in the nose.
- Septoplasty or Nasal Septal Reconstruction is a procedure being done to fix the nasal airway problems as a result of a deviated septum which has been caused by trauma or some congenital abnormalities. Often, it is a functional surgery which fixes the modified anatomy of one’s nasal septum. As compared to the other surgical procedures, this does not change the nose’s external appearance.
- Rhinoplasty is the most common nose surgery being done. For people who want to change their nose’s external appearance, they get rhinoplasty. But aside from vanity reasons, there are also other people who need to get rhinoplasty as a result of trauma from a sport injury or a car accident. The common rhinoplastic procedures involves the removal of the nose’s dorsal hump, alteration of the nasal tip, and straightening a crooked nose.
- Cleft Rhinoplasty is a nasal surgery which is typically being administered to people between the age of 16 and 20. This involves the repair of the nasal deformity which starts from the cleft palate or tip.
These are the common nasal reconstructive surgery methods which are being offered to people. It is only their choice and their physician’s suggestion on what type of surgery they should get.
